I just came across this brilliant, evocative, 7 min film with some hearfelt, twanging guitar, scenes of the spill, and interviews with enraged, heartsick people of the Bayou.
I found it, and find it, every time, acutely painful to view.
But there are these realities we must shift. There is work we must do.
I urge you to watch and then share it.
I'll start posting more material, as I go through my research. I want to share the work of journalists and organizations who are really fighting tooth and nail to uncover the truth, get it out there, and provoke people to do something.
I'm planning to visit the Gulf October 10/23-29 to see wazzup for myself.
I'll be chanting with the Buddhists, talking to people in Venice, Grand Isle, Houmas, meeting with filmmakers and activists and bayou people.
I fear and need to confirm with my own eyes that families - seven generations deep in the bayou and marshes and Gulf waters - have lost their way of life. Because of this Oil Spill, millions of people are adrift. And, I fear, poisoned.
Along with the birds and the fish and wildlife.
I am in love with birds. I grew up on the water. I relate.
That's all. I can't do nothing.
